Scholarships & Grants

Leadership Development Unit

The Leadership Development Unit has scholarship funds available for adults (age 18 and over) to attend conferences, seminars and meetings that will enhance their leadership abilities in various aspects of ministry in local congregations and in New Castle Presbytery. To be considered, the Scholarship Application Form must be completed and sent with a letter of endorsement from the session (or appropriate governing body) to the unit for review.  The general expectation for adult scholarships is that the individual will pay one third of the total cost, their church one third, and LDU one third.  Requests to LDU for more than one third of the total cost require related justification.
Applications will be reviewed by the unit four times a year.

NOTE:  Application deadlines are February 1, May 1, August 15 and October 1.

All recipients will be asked to provide a brief report on their experience, such as a few sentences and a photo or two, which may be used in Presbytery communications. Payment will be made to the sponsoring church or directly to the camp or conference. Scholarship applications are available by clicking on the link below.

Redevelopment of an existing congregation is a re-direction of its ministry in light of specific changes among its membership, the community to be served, or both.  While redevelopment/revitalization efforts often involve new or re-focused mission and community projects, central objectives of an application are to articulate how a specific ministry strategy will address the overall health and vitality of the congregation and how it is linked to its ongoing mission and ministries.

Specific guidelines and information is included in the application, which can obtained by clicking on the link below.  Please note that due to the individuality of each congregation’s redevelopment, receipt of applications is on-going.

Mission Development Unit

The Mission Development Unit of New Castle Presbytery is continually seeking ways to partner with your congregation in challenging us all to grow in our faith and to serve in mission as Christ’s faithful disciples.

Each year we invite congregations to submit proposals requesting funding from the Mission Development Unit of NCP to help support the exciting mission work that is going on locally, nationally and globally.

In the past several years, the projects have been as diverse as feeding people who are hungry, housing people who are homeless, sending people on domestic and overseas mission trips and supporting missions in Africa and Guatemala. Funding ranges from $1,000 to $10,000 per project.

Even as we face continued reductions in budget allocations for mission (this year we may face as much as 50%!), we believe mission is our calling as Christians and the heartbeat of our life together as a Presbytery. So we encourage you to let us know if you have a mission project to propose locally or globally!

Our Unit only provides funding once each year, so past projects must re-apply.   Applicants who applied by the deadline will be notified in mid to late November. The funds will become available in early January and must be expended by December 31st.

The 2017 funding cycle closed on October 21st.  Completed applications and 10 copies of the application must be reutrned to the Mission Unit, c/o of the Presbytery Office (1102 W Church Rd, Newark, DE 19711).
