The New Castle Presbytery Clergy Sexual Misconduct Policy of the NCP Manual requires all teaching elder members and commissioned ruling elders of the Presbytery attend a seminar on the issues of prevention of sexual misconduct. Candidates under the care of the Presbytery Committee on Preparation are required to participate as well.
The Beyond Basics class is approximately 2-1/2 to 3 hours in duration. As of January 2019, the available class includes:
- Thursday, September 12, 9:30am-12:00pm, Presbyterian Church of Dover, 54 S. State Street, Dover, Delaware
Participants who require training by December 31, 2019 include:
- 2016 Basics OR Beyond Basics class participants (an email reminder will be sent by the last week in January)
- Minister members who are new to New Castle Presbytery and have not provided a Committee on Ministers & Congregations compliant certificate of participation within the last three years
- CPMM Inquirers and Candidates
- Commissioned Ruling Elders
This prevention training program teaches adults how to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. The program is designed for individuals concerned about the safety of children as well as organizations that serve youth. The online version allows individuals to take the training at any time or place, at a pace of their choosing.

National Capital Presbytery and Philadelphia Presbytery will welcome our basics participants to their classes. Their online registration provides many options and also indicates the number of seats currently available. (Confirmation will be provided by the respective Presbytery offices.) To register:

IMPORTANT FOLLOW-UP FOR TRAINING ONLINE OR OUTSIDE OF OUR PRESBYTERY: Minister members are responsible for providing New Castle Presbytery with a certificate of completion for any class taken outside of NCP in order to maintain compliance with Presbytery mandated participation.
