July 18, 2025 Presbytery Pause (Tracy Keenan) - Some say organized religion the way a vegan might say slaughterhouse. They might call themselves the “spiritual but not religious” who perhaps believe in God and even be fans of Jesus, but shy away from organized religion. At best, some of them say, organized religion is empty ritual, at worst, coercive and abusive. They’re not crazy about us church people.

The truth is, we have some wonderful things happening in New Castle Presbytery. Many churches offer creative and inspiring worship that still honors tradition. They advocate for the hungry, the wounded, and the oppressed. They frame things theologically and work ceaselessly for the good.
