September 5, 2025 An effort to offer love respect and dignity - Matthew 25 reminds us that service to those in need is a direct encounter with Jesus Christ. An act to loving service encourages us to recognize the inherent dignity and worth of every individual.
As noted in the News-Journal and Delaware State News a few weeks ago, food deliveries expected from the US Department of Agriculture were cancelled to the Food Bank of Delaware. Many others have been delayed or cancelled to the Food Bank of Maryland as well. As a result, our Presbytery Call to Action is life-giving as we request you join the effort to pick-up the pieces left behind by USDA and secure the dignity of our neighbors.
September is Hunger Action Month. Gather members of your congregations to help our Food Banks in their efforts to create a community free of hunger for the least of these in our midst. Our challenge is to:
Gather items (the most needed include those high in fiber and low in sugar and sodium) and coordinate a delivery to your local chapter. View details on their websites: Food Bank of Delaware; Food Bank of Maryland.
Provide photos or a message of your experience for the Presbytery to share in a mid-October Midweek edition. (Email submissions to adminoffice@ncpresbytery.org.)
An outpouring of food donations in September collected and donated by the first week in October (World Communion Sunday) is a prophetic symbol of love during these challenging times.
The staff of New Castle Presbytery thank you for considering our collaborative effort to embrace our communities.
