March 16, 2025 Presbytery Pause (CKohlmann) - In today's lectionary passage from the gospel of Luke, Jesus is warned that Herod wants to kill him. I don't know about you, but if someone came up to me with such a warning, my response probably wouldn't be as clear and concise. I'd either try to laugh it off (yeah, right, so-and-so doesn't even know who I am) or, if the threat felt realistic, go into trouble-shooting, self-preservation mode.

...

Which means we are the ones who now say to the fear and the perceived threats and the uncertainty, "Listen, tell the noise and posturing that I am following my Lord. I am loving and healing, I am seeking liberation and working for justice. I am clear about the call to love God and to love my neighbor, and nothing you can say will make me stop."
