Presbytery Pause: History Lessons

Full disclosure: I never enjoyed learning history in school.

Some of that was because of disinterested teachers who were tired and maybe didn’t like teaching history any more than I liked to learn it. Some of it was because what I learned just seemed to be a series of never-ending wars demanded, mostly, by kings with a series of increasing numbers behind their names that I couldn’t keep straight. It seemed like the history I was being taught wasn’t about people but about events, and, of course, the accounting of those events was always told from the viewpoint of the declared winner.
